Gary A. Cooperstein, D.O.

Dr. Cooperstein is a Family Physician certified by the American Board of Family Physicians and has been practicing in Downingtown, PA since opening Whitford Family Medicine in 1989. Around this time he was also designated as an Aviation Medical Examiner by the Federal Aviation Administration receiving further designation as a Senior AME as well as an examiner for Air Traffic Controllers and Aviation Safety Inspectors. He is also certified as a Medical Review Officer through the American Association of Medical Review officers for the purposes of overseeing the implementation of DOT mandated drug screening programs for both local business and national industries. In 2014 Dr. Cooperstein became one of the first physicians in Chester County to be certified and listed with the National Registry of Certified Medical Examiners allowing him to perform physical examinations on interstate commercial motor vehicle (CDL) drivers.

Dr. Cooperstein also holds a passion for education and was recognized for his teaching in 2014 as “Preceptor of the Year” for the Drexel Hahnemann University Physician Assistant program. Students from various medical schools and physician assistant programs are regularly a part of the day to day activities at Whitford Family Medicine.

Outside of the office Dr. Cooperstein has been a proud member of the Chester County Community where he resides with his wife, twin daughters, and man’s best friends—his two rescued dogs, Quinn and Ruby.

Linda S. Kohn, CRNP

Linda is a board certified Registered Nurse Practitioner who brings to Whitford Family Medicine years of clinical experience as a provider specializing in Women’s Health Care. Prior to her joining WFM, Linda practiced for years at Valley Forge OB/GYN where she fine tuned her skills in women’s preventative health counselling and educating patients about such  issues as family planning, infertility, contraception, menopause, and wellness. She also became certified as a nurse colposcopist and is proficient in biopsy, cryosurgery and LEEP techniques. Prior to this her experiences also included her work at Planned Parenthood as well as in Family Practice.

Linda also has a passion for personal counseling. These skills were developed by the time she spent at Chester County Intermediate Unit as a coordinator for the Young Parents Program, the Chester County Mental Retardation Unit as a Core Team Coordinator, Human Services as a Crisis Intervention Consultant, as well as The Haverford State and Pennhurst Hospitals where she served as a Psychiatric Nurse.

Linda is a long time resident of Chester County where she resides with her husband, Robin, and her two chocolate labs, Moose and Doser.
